StarBump Royale
## I. Game Overview
*StarBump Royale* is a fast-paced bumper car collision arena game developed for the web, playable instantly upon opening a browser. Centered on the core design philosophy of **short match durations and high thrill value**, each match has a fixed 3-minute runtime. Players control bumper cars to collide with opponents and collect stars to earn points, competing for the title of **Bumper King** with the highest score in the end.
## II. Core Gameplay
The game’s core loop revolves around **Collide → Collect Stars → Earn Points**, featuring a tight, goal-oriented flow:
### Start Phase
After launching the game, players first see the startup screen where they can select a difficulty level. The system then automatically loads game assets (including bumper cars, scenes, sound effects, etc.). Once loaded, clicking **Play Now** lets players enter the match.
### Match Phase
During the 3-minute time limit, players control their bumper cars in a closed arena and interact with AI-controlled enemy bumper cars. Colliding with enemy bumper cars causes them to drop stars, and collecting these stars awards points. Lightning-shaped speed boost items spawn randomly across the scene; collecting one grants a 5-second double speed boost. Higher movement speed increases collision power, making opponents drop more stars. Players also need to note the **idle penalty rule** — 10 points will be deducted if the car remains stationary for 5 seconds, requiring constant operation.
### End Phase
When the match ends, the game displays a top 3 leaderboard, simultaneously recording the player’s personal best score. Players can quickly restart a match or return to the main menu.
## III. Controls & Interaction
### 1. Core Keyboard Controls
The game adopts a classic keyboard control logic that aligns with players’ operating habits:
- **Basic Movement**: W/↑ keys to accelerate forward; S/↓ keys to brake/reverse; A/← and D/→ keys to steer the bumper car.
- **Advanced Moves**: Spacebar to trigger a handbrake drift, which allows quick direction adjustments and improves collision accuracy.
- **Auxiliary Controls**: Esc key to pause the game instantly; M key for one-click mute, lowering the game’s entry barrier.
### 2. Interface Interaction Design
- **Real-time HUD Panel**: The top panel during matches displays remaining time, current score, equipped item type and remaining item duration in real time. Key information is presented in distinct sections for instant readability.
- **Pause Menu**: After pausing, players can select **Resume Match**, **Restart** or **Quit**. The menu also supports precision volume adjustment (0-1 range, 0.01 step size) with real-time display of the volume value.
## IV. Difficulty Settings
The game offers three difficulty levels — Easy, Normal and Hard — to cater to the needs of players of different skill levels.
## V. Rule Details
### Scoring and Penalties
Collecting a star grants a fixed +10 points; the 5-second idle penalty results in a -10 point deduction. Scores are updated in real time and shown on the HUD panel.
### Collision Mechanics
A bumper car that is hit enters a 1-second stun state. The higher a bumper car’s speed, the more stars it will knock off an opponent. Dropped stars remain on the field for 3-5 seconds and disappear if not collected in time.
### Item Rules
Lightning speed boosts have a fixed 5-second active duration. Double speed only improves movement efficiency and does not alter the scoring rules. The remaining duration of the boost is displayed as a countdown on the HUD panel.
### End-of-Match Rules
The top 3 rankings are shown at the end of a match, with the player’s current score compared against their personal best. The core objective is to surpass one’s own record and claim the title of Bumper King for the match.
